Portugal - Porto, Agustina Bessa-Luis

One of the most enjoyable days we spent at Porto was our visit to the Serralves (which is a combination Museum, Park, Villa, and a House of Cinema), part of which was detailed in the blog entry - Portugal - Porto, part 2 of 2. The highlight of the visit was the three-dimensional book exhibit of excerpts from the writings of Agustina Bessa-Luis .   Here's the description from the Serralves: The title of the exhibition that marks Agustina Bessa-Luís’ one hundredth anniversary (1922–2019) evokes the title of a work by a filmmaker who maintained a regular and fertile collaboration with the writer: Manoel de Oliveira’s  Um Filme Falado  [A Talking Picture] (2003). The point of departure for the show were the books  Aforismos  [Aphorisms] (1988),  Contemplação Carinhosa da Angústia  [A Tender Contemplation of Angst] (2000),  Dicionário Imperfeito  [Imperfect Dictionary] (a collection of excerpts in alphabetical order published in 2008) and  Ensaios e Artigos  [Essays and Articles]  (19

Portugal - Porto, part 2 of 2 (A visit to the Serralves)

Visiting the Serralves is one of the best things to do in Porto .  The Serralves is a combination Museum, Park, Villa, and House of Cinema. Here's some more information about the Serralves:   Serralves - Wikipedia Here are some of the highlights of our visit. (The following descriptions are from Daily Art Magazine .) Please click on each photo to enlarge. The Serralves Foundation is a playground for art lovers, a wide area devoted exclusively to creation and pleasure. It offers a  museum of contemporary art  surrounded by a large  park , including a  House of Cinema , a  treetop walk , and amazing sculptures (among others by Olafur Eliasson, and currently a wonderful  Louise Bourgeois ’  Maman ). In front of the gigantic spider, you find the  Villa Serralves,  a wonderful example of Portuguese  Art Deco  architecture.
